Vote for Marijuana

3 states have marijuana initiatives on the ballot for 2008. California, Massachusetts, and Michigan are the three states that may realize the truth about this harmless and even more helpful plant. When will the rest of America catch up?

California, as you may already know, has made the medicinal use of marijuana legal. That was prop. 215. Now comes prop. 5 for the Non-violent Offender Rehabilitation Act. This would put more emphasis on rehab over jail. This is great on its own, because why should we waste tax dollars of something that is doing no harm to anyone but the user. Not to mention, if you want someone to quit drugs, jail isn’t the place. Believe it or not, prisons are full of drugs. This act would also take minor possession of marijuana from a misdemeanor to a non-criminal infraction.

Opposition to Prop 5 is coming from the California Prison Union and the states Beer and Beverage distributors.

In Massachusetts voters decide on Question 2, the decriminalization of marijuana. This would take one ounce of cannabis from being a criminal offense to a civil offense with a fine of $100. This will be the first state to do so since ‘01 when Nevada did so. This would also be the first to do so by voter initiative.

Michigan is voting for prop. 1, which is a medical marijuana act. This would be the 13th state to enact medical marijuana laws. 67% of voters say they will vote to see this come to fruition. We can anly wait and see if the people get out vote.

Obviously the majority of Americans feel the laws on marijuana are outdated and need some changing. OUr politicians will not do this, so it is up to us. If your local politician doesn’t agree, don’t vote. Tell them you won’t be voting for them if they don’t change their views and help. Tell your friends who not to vote for. Tell them who to vote…

But most importantly go vote. Your vote will count because of the vast amount of people “watching”. You can’t cheat us a third time. Bush was enough. Check out videothevote.org to see who is watching…

RNC and DEA Raids

**Look at all the cops and guns used on some harmless pot smoker, Overkill?**

The state of California and it’s citizens, along with 12 other states, has made marijuana legal for medical patients. The only problem here, the federal government does not care what the citizens want. This reminds me of most of our leaders. Such as Dick Cheney. When told how many people disagree with the Iraq war, his response was “So”. I guess they just work for themselves, screw the public. The feds have now started to threaten landlords who harbor these patients and caregivers. For the first time US attorneys are getting involved with the treats.

Why is this happening? Who is doing this?

It seems some powerful republican donors asked Santa Barbara to shut down all the coops. When nothing happened they went to the Republican National Committee. Since then the RNC has taken a highly aggressive stance against medical marijuana. Not surprisingly, they have started to attack soon-to-be President Obama. Barack Obama has pledged to end the DEA raids and let the states and citizens make their own decisions.

One of the big problems with getting Cannabis legal is the money that the government makes. Many people think it is illegal because it can’t be taxed. I guess that is better than what most people used to believe. See our other post about why is cannabis illegal… The reason it has stayed illegal is the money and property from seizures. The government takes millions from people and families that may have cultivated a harmless plant.

This will not stop until we open our eyes and stand up. We have the power to make something happen if we work together. What do you think? Will marijuana be made legal in our lifetime?
One more question, do you think John McCain will help the legalization of marijuana?

Jason from Maine asked me this:

What are the main things I should know about growing cannabis?

Thanks Jason. When growing marijuana there are four things that should be almost perfect. Below I have listed these things and included a write-up on each. There is so much to learn about growing, I recommend buying a grow book from Jorge. Hope this helps…

Temperature-
The optimum temp. of plain old marijuana growing is 70 - 80 degrees. It can go as high as 90 with the proper ventilation. If you add Co2 to your garden, the temperature can go as high as 95. Just make sure to have the ventilation come on when your Co2 is off. Anything above 95 will stunt the growth.
Humidity-
There are two stages of growth for marijuana. The first is vegetative. The humidity should be anywhere from 40%-60%. The second stage is flowering. The humidity should be around 30%. This will do a couple of things. Less moisture in the air lowers your chance of bud rot. Plus, marijuana produces more resin and THC crystals in a dryer climate. This is a defense tool. The plant creates more resin glands to effectively bounce harmful rays and heat off the plant.
Water-
The watering of marijuana is a big part. The ph level is the first thing to check. Balance the ph to 6.5 and 7.0, then add nutrients and adjust ph again. Having the ph at this level ensures the plant can take in the maximum amount of nutrients. It is better to slightly underwater than to overwater your plants. If using soil push your finger about 1 inch into the soil. If it is dry, you should water again. Just make sure your pots have good draining. The roots cannot be sitting in standing water or they won’t get oxygen.
Light-
The last thing for this post is proper lighting. While you can get away with keeping a mother or father plant under low light, you should use a good bit of light for veg and flower. At the minimum you should have 20-40 watts per square foot. The more light you use the more yield you get. Make sure the heat from the lights are not hurting the plant. Hold your hand right at the top of the plants. Is it too hot? Is it uncomfortable for your hand? Then you might need to raise the lights. The length of day and night is the last thing I will talk about. During veg the lights should be on for anywhere from 18-24 hours. When the plants are big enough to flower, you’ll need to turn the lights back to 12 hours on and 12 hours off. This will cause the plants to jump into flowering.
If you have any questions just post a comment and we will answer it promptly.

  Water Bong w/ Ice Catcher

**I will post a pic when I get my camera back**

I just bought this new water bong from Grass City. I got it for the ice catcher and the cool symbols on the glass. I was surprised by the thickness. Also, the amount of water used makes the hit real smooth. The more water means the smoke gets cooler. Add that to the ice, and you’ve got a very cool, smooth drag.

I almost forgot to mention, this is German engineered at it’s finest. Being part German helps this appeal to my tastes…

Glass on glass seals are the only way to go. At least that is my opinion.

Cindy McCain | Drug Addict

John McCain has been notorious for wanting strict punishment for drug users. He feels there is no such thing as medical marijuana. He also has a drug addict for a wife. What makes this story almost unbelievable is, she illegally acquired pain pills through a charity she founded. She was taking these pills as a mother of 4. I wonder why she got special treatment? What, no prison for the wife?

You read stories in the news all the time about drug addicts who lose their children. You hear about people being jailed for stealing pain pills, and doing fraudulent things for pills. Don’t forget pain pills are what heroin users look for when they can’t find heroin. So, I ask again, why did Cindy McCain receive special treatment? Some states impose a 5-10 year mandatory for the possession of pain pills without a prescription.

What do you think is safer: marijuana or pain pills?

This is to John McCain: Why the double standards?

Maybe they should have asked John McCain these questions at the final 2008 presidential debate. Or maybe they should have asked about the Keating 5 Fraud he took part in. I wonder how he was cleared on that? McCain took handouts to protect fraudulent activities from being exposed. He flew on Charles Keatings plane to vacation with Keating himself. This is in addition to the money he accepted from Keating. But he was cleared.

Do we want John McCain and his history in our White House?

 Marijuana Harvest

You have spent months caring for your baby girls(female marijuana plants). The plants look good enough to eat, but now is not the time to make hasty decisions. I have seen countless growers waste months of time by screwing up the harvest. Some don’t let the plant go long enough, or they let it mold during drying. Others destroy the buds with rough handling. There are many ways to be a harvest time jerk.

Below is a list of things not to do during harvest:
  • The first thing growers mess up is pulling the plants too early. You need to let the plants go long enough to develop lots more weight, and that all important resin. The majority of hairs should be turning red before you even look closely at them. When you notice lots of red hairs, take a magnifying glass and focus on the crystals or THC resin glands. They should be milky looking and about to burst. If the glands go amber the high will leave you relaxed and looking for a couch. At the other end, if you harvest your buds before they turn milky and before the hairs all turn red, the high will be more uppity and active.
  • The second thing some growers screw up on is feeding or fertilizing up to the end of growing. You need to figure out when your plants are about two or three weeks away from harvest. Use the tips above and with a little experience you will learn when your cannabis is almost done. STOP feeding your plants at 3 weeks before harvest. Start giving them plain water. 3-4 days before you harvest, give them a 2 step flush. Pour warm water, wait a couple minutes, then flush with a good bit of water.(Make sure your plants have good drainage.) This will effectively take much of the harsh bitter tastes from the smoke. That is if you follow all of these steps.
  • Another thing growers like to screw up is when to actually pick the buds. You want the the last 24 hours to be dark and dry. The darkness causes the nutrients to flow down into the roots where they are stored. The dryness causes the marijuana plant to defend itself and create more resin. This is because cannabis uses the glands to bounce the hot sun off of itself. This is the reason it can grow in hot, dry climates. Studies have shown that marijuana grown in these climates produce more resin.
  • Another big no-no is being rough during the manicure stage, and not doing the job right. You need to have delicate hands, and try to get most of the leaves off. If you crush and destroy the crystals it will cause the THC content to degrade over time. So unless you plan on smoking everything within a couple weeks, you should be easy with your buds. Also, get the leaves off, they make the smoke very harsh, and they don’t contain all that much THC.
  • The last and most important part that a marijuana grower screws up is the dry and cure. More growers commit this tragedy than any of the above. You should hang your crop in an area that will let your buds dry almost fully within 5-7 days. If followed the above steps you should be ready to cure after this drying period. If the harvest is done correctly the cure can be a shorter amount of time. The cure should go anywhere from 10 to 30 days. You place your buds in an air-tight container. This helps take the moisture from the middle of the bud and spreads it evenly amongst the entire bud. Every 4-6 hours you want to take the lid off and leave it open for 10-15 minutes. Do this for a couple weeks and you should have near perfect cannabis ready to blaze.
  • This may seem like a lot of work, but you have already worked pretty hard, why do you want to mess it all up during the last few weeks?

     Marijuana Laws Are Too Extreme

Can anyone tell me why the laws against marijuana are more harsh than the drug itself?

Yeah, the government tells us how dangerous it is, but can you tell me factual reasons why cannabis should be illegal? Also, why would we want to pay our tax dollars investigate, arrest, and prosecute pot smokers? Maybe we could use that money and go after that guy Osama Bin Laden. Or did you forget about him like the Bush administration?

Anytime a law or policy is more extreme than the object being outlawed, it needs to be abolished. Is our country ran by Nazi’s? Or is right to lock someone up with killers and criminals for smoking or even selling marijuana? Our current drug laws are racist and archaic and should be done away with.

We really need to make some changes. Marijuana could be regulated exactly like alcohol and tobacco. Also, if you are worried about your kids getting it, they already have easier access to marijuana than alcohol. Not to mention, you are in control of your child, no one else. For example, if the drugs were at a store a person would have to be carded. Do you think a drug dealer asks for ID? Legalization of all drugs would solve this and many other things.

What are some reasons to legalize marijuana?

Think about it, if a responsible adult was able to get their bud or drugs at a store, would the drug war violence even be around? The value would no longer be there. No value means no black market sales. No black market sales means no drug violence. Don’t forget, most drug users are non violent. Usually if a drug user is committing a crime, it is to buy expensive drugs. Either that or this drug user is robbing a dealer to feed their habit. None of this would happen drugs were legal. People are going to do drugs, kids are still going to experiment, wouldn’t it be better if we educated our kids instead of banning things and creating an almost mystical view on drugs. The way things are now makes kids very curious about drugs. Prohibition is a failed policy, and we need a change. How many more years will this continue?

We are spending over $19 billion a year fighting a lost battle. The prohibition of marijuana started in 1937, and has not worked to this day. It is a failed policy that we should give up immediately. So, not only would we save the $19 billion, we would also save billions more by not prosecuting and jailing non-violent drug users. We would also end drug caused violence. Our children and teenagers would be more educated about drugs and make much better choices.

What do you think, is it time to can these drug laws?

     Marijuana Harvest

It’s Fall, and we all know what that means. Harvest Time… Hopefully you are taking place in this great experience. Either as a grower or a buyer, the joys of even seeing a perfectly cured bud is a wonderful thing. Getting to inhale the beautiful flower takes it to a whole other level.

I will say smoking a bud you grew just feels better. Like you have accomplished something. Although that feeling wears off quickly after a couple harvests.

If you haven’t seen anything from this years harvest, go out and find some fire buds. You’ll be glad you did.

The John McCain campaign Thursday referred to Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama as a “guy of the street”, and described his record as “very extreme.”

Frank Keating, co-chair of McCain’s GOP presidential campaign, said Obama should be more forthcoming about his past use of marijuana.  In recent days, McCain aides have been publicly questioning whether or not voters know enough about Obama.  But McCain aides also said Keating had been asked not to bring up Obama’s past drug use. Surveys say that 42% of people polled have smoked marijuana at least once, and those are just the people that admit it. The real number is probably more like 52%.

Seems like the McCain campaign doesn’t want the American public to have smoking pot in common with them and Barack Obama… Although Sarah Palin has smoked marijuana.
    John McCain     Barack Obama
A top official  to John McCain (left) said in a radio show that Barack Obama
should be more forthright about his past drug use

During the Democratic primary contest, Bill Shaheen, a top advior to Hillary Clinton’s compaign, resigned shortly after suggesting that Obama’s past drug use could be “used against him” in the general election.

Another prominent Clinton supporter, BET founder Bob Johnson, apologized in January after hinting at Obama’s drug use at a campaign event in South Carolina.

Perhaps, instead of trying to make election issues out of petty incidents, McCain and the GOP should concentrate on the current economic crisis that is swiftly growing to a global scale.  Or, if either campaign chooses to debate marijuana as an election issue, perhaps the discussion could focus on how much money the government could make via the taxation of legal sales of marijuana. Or maybe they should talk about the money wasted on a policy that has been nothing but a huge failure…
